Content managers and online editors need to evaluate the writing ability of potential contributors, often freelance writers, and provide feedback and direction. Editors, like English majors, must know t heir audience and plan for communications which will appeal to their readers. They must be able to set and abide by deadlines in order to produce publications on schedule. 8. menschenwrdig Resources Specialist Human Resources Specialistsutilizelanguage very precisely and carefully as they draft employment policies for organizations. They coach managers about written communications to employees about performance. Human resources managers compose advertisements for jobs in order to attract the most qualified candidates. They develop written training materials for staff development. Human resource managers need the critical reading skills of the English major when reviewing resumes, employee evaluations, language for contracts, and proposals for expanding staffing. 9. Teaching English as a Second Language English majors develop a solid command for the English language including grammar as well as vocabulary. They are very well positioned to pursue graduate work and qualify as an ESL in structor domestically in the public school system or at a college. In addition, English majors are recruited as English teachers directly out of college by international language organizations including the Peace Corps as well as language schools abroad.Opportunities are especially abundant in Asia where governments in Japan, China, and other countries are committed to teaching their citizens to speak English in order to compete in the world economy. 10. Fundraiser Fundraisersmust be able to engage prospective donors, assess their interests, and devise written communications which have the best chance of generating contributions. Development staff write content for brochures and websites and compose campaign letters. They draft language for volunteers to use with telephone fundraising. Fundraisers draft letters of appreciation and articles recognizing the contributions of donors. Fundraisers, like English majors, must be well organized, and detail oriented in order to plan successfu l events and cater to the needs ofthose in attendance.

New ECLIPSE Interns Start Their Terms New ECLIPSE Interns Start Their Terms New ECLIPSE Interns Start Their TermsMay 26, 2017 Eight early career members of ASME have been selected to participate as the 2017-2018 class of the Societys Early Career Leadership Intern Program to Serve Engineering (ECLIPSE) program, in which young members of the Society learn about the inner workings of ASME by serving with an ASME unit such as the hauptplatine of Governors, the Volunteer Orientation and Leadership Training (VOLT) Academy, or one of the ASME Sectors. The eight new fr sichs will begin their yearlong terms next month at the ASME Annual Meeting in Newport Beach, Calif. Ebele EjioforOnce accepted to the program, ECLIPSE interns are matched with a dedicated advisor within their area of interest at ASME. During their internships, they will have the opportunity to travel to Society meetings and take part in workshops and training sessions to build leadership skills, which will serve them in bo th their careers and their personal lives. Former ECLIPSE interns have gone on to serve in such leadership positions within ASME as member of the Board of Governors and member of the Committee on Finance and Investment. Jonathan JenningsOne of the early career engineers selected for the 2017-2018 ECLIPSE program, Ebele Ejiofor, will serve as an intern for the Diversity and Inclusion Strategy Committee. A native of Nigeria, Ejiofor received herbei bachelors degree in mechanical engineering in 2011. Since 2014, she has been working as a production maintenance engineering for Royal Dutch Shell, where she is a production maintenance engineer. A firm believer that investments in science and technology can improve the quality of life for her fellow citizens of Nigeria, Ejiofor hopes to have a positive impact on her local community through her ECLIPSE internship and eventually become an ASME Fellow. Rigoberto LopezJonathan Jennings, the 2017-2018 intern for the Board of Governors, curren tly works as a systems engineer in the gas turbine auxiliary power unit control systems group at Honeywell Aerospace in Phoenix, Ariz. Jennings received a bachelors degree with an emphasis in aerospace and space flight in 2016 from the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he had been president and social chair of the ASME student section. He also served as chair and member-at-large on the Student Section Enterprise Committee. Jennings was the recipient of the ASME Charles T. Main Gold Student Leadership Award in 2015 and was selected to take part in the ASME Technology Advisory Panel in 2016. Tran Mah-PaulsonThe new intern for the Public Affairs and Outreach Sector, Rigoberto Lopez, is a subsea wells supervisor at BP in Houston, where he has worked since 2013. Lopez, who received a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering in 2013 from Texas AM University, became involved in ASME through his universitys student section, where he helped coordinate an engineering camp for middle s chool students in Costa Rica. A former member of the ASME Petroleum Division Collegiate Council, Lopez expects to receive his masters degree in petroleum engineering from Texas AM this December. Harsheel PanchasaraTran Mah-Paulson, the 2017-2018 ECLIPSE intern for the Technical Events and Content Sector, is a welding project engineer with T.D. Williamson Inc., in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, where he has been involved in the global development of the companys welding services program in countries throughout the world. He has also helped expand the companys project management and engineering program within Canada. The president and CEO of the Young Pipeliners Association of Canada (YPAC), Mah-Paulson is a member of the ASME Pipeline Systems Division Extended Executive Committee. He received a bachelors degree in civil engineering from the University of Alberta. Joseph RadisekHarsheel Panchasara, a mechanical entwurf engineer at Bluechip Infocorp Pvt. Ltd., will serve as the next EC LIPSE intern for the Volunteer Orientation and Leadership Training (VOLT) Academy. As mechanical design engineer, he works as a consultant with ABB India Limiteds research and development department. Panchasara received a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering in 2014 from the G.H. Patel College of Engineering and Technology in Anand, India, where he helped establish the schools ASME student section. The former Energy Sources Team Lead for the ECE Programming Committee and a speaker at the recent E-E-Fest Asia Pacific event in Jaipur, India, Panchasara was a finalist at the ASME Additive Manufacturing 3D Challenge in Montreal, Canada, in 2014, and a runner-up in the Old Guard Oral Presentation at the ASME Asia-Pacific Student Professional Development Conference in 2014. Kushi SellahennedigeThe new ECLIPSE intern for the History Heritage Committee, Joseph Radisek, is a process development engineer at Materials Processing Inc. (MPI) in Irving, Texas. Radisek became involved in A SME in 2007 when he was a student at the University of Dayton. He served as chair, vice chair, secretary and treasurer of the universitys student section, and went on to hold positions on the District B Student District Operating Board, the Student Section Enterprise Committee and the Affinity Communities Operating Board. After receiving his bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Dayton, Radisek moved to Texas in 2013. He is currently the chair of the Societys North Texas Section. Nishant TrivediKushi Sellahennedige, the incoming ECLIPSE intern for the Strategy Advisory Committee, is an engineer at the specialized bulk material firm Jenike Johanson. After being introduced to ASME at an activities fair as a student at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), Sellahennedige joined the student section at her school and eventually became the chair of the student section in her senior year. The recipient of an ASME Garland Duncan Scholarship in 2011, she receiv ed her bachelors degree from WPI in 2012, and her masters degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, in 2016.The new ECLIPSE intern for the Standards and Certification Sector, Nishant Trivedi, is a product design engineer at ITT Corporation India Pvt. Ltd., where he is involved in the design and development of API horizontal pumps for the oil and gas industry. A member of the ASME India Sections leadership team, Trivedi was the founder of the ASME student section at the B.H. Gardi College of Engineering and Technology in Rajkot, India, where he participated in a number of ASME events, including the Student Professional Development Conference (SPDC), the Leadership Training Conference (LTC), and the India Conclave. Since graduating from the B.H.
